AIPG Texas Section Awards Shoemaker Graduate Scholarship and Foss Undergraduate Scholarship to Rice University Geoscience Students
Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., I2M’s Executive Vice President and Chief Geologist (Mining) / Chief Hydrogeologist (Environmental), is also serving as Vice President – Eastern Texas, of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) and presented an AIPG Texas Section Shoemaker Graduate Scholarship and an AIPG Texas Section Foss Undergraduate Scholarship to two students of the Earth Science Department at Rice University during the graduation awards ceremony (more). The formal announcements were made earlier for all four of the scholarships awarded this year to Texas students by the AIPG Texas Section (more).
Henry M. Wise, P.G., C.P.G., President, AIPG Texas Section and Rima Petrossian, Ph.D., P.G., C.P.G., Vice-President, Western Texas, announced that I2M’s Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., C.P.G. has been selected to receive the National AIPG Section Leadership Award for his efforts to:
- re-activate the Texas Section of the AIPG,
- maintain the AIPG-TX website presence via son David’s management through the years of inactivity,
- expand the website’s coverage and usefulness to the members of the Section, and
- pursue other Section-building activities in his role of Vice-President, Eastern Texas.
The publication, Growth Faulting and Subsidence in the Houston, Texas Area, has been released after more than 10 years of research and discussions among the geological community in the Houston area (more), which is consistent with the goals of the IET Sponsored Research Program (more). The Guide was produced by I2M’s Chief Geologist and Principal Hydrogeologist, Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H.; by I2M’s Project Manager & Mining / Environmental Geological Associate, M. David Campbell, P.G.; by I2M’s Senior Engineering and Environmental Associate, Richard C. Bost, P.E., P.G.; and by Henry M. Wise, P.G., Senior Geologist and Remedial Services Senior Specialist for SWS Environmental Services, in La Porte, Texas. I2M’s Chief Geologist/ Principal Hydrogeologist, Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., and M. David Campbell, P.G., I2M’s Senior Geologist, Jeffrey D. King, P.G., I2M’s President and CEO, and Henry M. Wise, P.G., Remedial Services Senior Specialist, SWS Environmental Services, LLC., have released a post-publication article entitled “Coal, Just Not for Burning” (more). The article was first published in the AIPG’s Journal of The Professional Geologist in the July-August-September Issue, 2014 (more), pp. 21-25.
Jeffrey D. King, P.G., President and CEO of I2M Associates, LLC in Seattle learned today that Michael D. Campbell, I2M’s Executive Vice President and Chief Geologist/Hydrogeologist, has been elected to the Board of the Texas Section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists, (AIPG-TX) and will be serving as Vice President, Eastern Texas (more). Mr. Campbell has been a member and Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) since 1976, more than 37 years. Mr. Campbell said that “I have joined the new Board to help revitalize the Texas Section and to support the AIPG in its efforts on behalf of professional geologists throughout the U.S. and the World.”
